What size rings would you use for this setup? Ruger American rifle and SWFA 6x42 30MM scope.
The Ruger American comes with a picatinny rail.
Thank much!
Edit: I’m really asking about medium or low rings and I already have the brand in mind. SWFA says the low rings should work.

You can't compare 1980's magazines to you and GoHunt's constant material on drawing options with a straight face. You and GoHunt explain the date, price, application requirements, everything down to tieing your shoe about applying for each western state. You also recommend that everyone apply in...
@Randy Newberg Randy, you are clearly on a very short list of the most respected voices of the hunting community. You do much good. You are maybe the only one that guys would believe is not in this for the money. Thanks for all you do. Matt is addressing all the glam and ridiculousness of bro...
This is comical. BR, you’ve said 100 times that long range shooting doesn’t kill more bucks and the guys would get the deer anyways. It’s glaringly clear that you desperately want to keep long range shooting because, whether you realize it or not, it would help you kill more bucks.
I don’t think region g is down forever but it was very rough season there this year. Everyone I talked to saw very few decent deer and none of the bigger bucks they might have expected to see.
There’s a good number more hunters despite the cap remaining the same. In the last 15 years many years the cap wasn’t filled. Then residents were buying thousands. Now there’s a different hunter for each tag. Probably more harvest from it too because most residents didn’t fill second tags, just...
It’s funny to hear all the explanations for walking around blowing on the bugle all day. I’ve learned it doesn’t educate the elk or make them run away. Good to know.
Where does this idea of covering a bunch of miles covering a ton evolve? It was maybe functional five years ago but in the near...
The guys who think archery hunting is walking around bugling non stop all day are hanging out on this thread and the guys who don’t dig it. A little of both adds some spice.
Archery hunting is not an activity that lends itself well to large numbers. Elk don’t respond to calls that well anymore because of the hoardes of new archery hunters. I’ll continue helping friends when I can but I’d prefer rifle season. There’s less people anymore.
39 isn’t just a random bear nirvana. 33, 43, 48 nearby and other units have pretty strong bear numbers also. And none of these units compare to Northern Idaho for bear numbers and quality. 39 just gets way more pressure because it’s close to Boise and it’s a bigger unit as stated.
If I was...
Region h was even worse.
G and h are not what a lot of guys expect for a hunt that takes a number of points to draw- always expect to see a lot of other hunters off trail, animals get timbered you fast, and the country is gnarly.
Many guys would be better served waiting and drawing somewhere...
