    Broadheads Shooting Left

What distance are you shooting and how far are the broadheads grouping from the field points? Pretty normal for a minor tune change after a new set of strings.

    Thunderbeast POI shift

I only have experience with the Dominus CB on my 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC. Pretty negligible changes to POI. I can still make hits on 400-500 yard 12” steel with or without the can. I’m sure that 338 is heavier and the length/weight create a bigger cantilever. That said, I always zero the...

Single Riding Horse for 3 days In

Here’s camp for two guys on one horse - all lightweight backpacking gear. Enough food for 7+ days. You could easily substitute saddle panniers for the pack saddle that we used. We led them in 6+ miles to camp and then day hunted. Rode them when we borrowed saddles from the other horses that...

Can we get a 7mm PRC meme thread going?

Oof. I didn’t make it to one min. That was tough.

    Clay pigeons on pasture

I think the lead would be a bigger concern than 1,000 clays a year. I’d think you could hit them a disk, tiller, or brush hog to clean them up if you were worried about it. I shoot a lot of sporting clays and it takes thousands of them to even begin to impact the area.

Antlerless Hunting - Cows w/ calves, Does w/ fawns...

I generally try to wait until the January late season for whitetail does, as the fawns will be old enough to get picked up by the herd. Have also shot plenty of young deer in some of our units that are management hunts. I have also passed on lots of archery opportunities when a doe has had...

Which gun cleaning solvent and copper scrubber do you use?

I’ve been using Clenzoil a lot for a general cleaning solvent, Montana Xtreme works well for copper.

WY Opener Dates - need to be there on the opener?

I’ve hunted antelope with a rifle twice, both times we spent the first 3-5 days hunting mule deer in a different part of the unit. I was able to take two nice bucks, but all the big ones close to roads with BLM access were smoked or at least harassed. They get pretty skittish after the firing...

“Glassing” set up for the house?

Swarovski BTX 95mm, with the 2x magnifier if you think they’ll be closer to 2.5 miles than 0.5 miles. This is what I use in the field and it often gets setup in the house or on the deck to watch what is going on. Plus it goes to the range with me when shooting. There is nothing more...

Swarovski EL Range 10x42, Swarovski EL Range 8x32 and Revic Acura BLR10b 10x42

Have you tested the accuracy of the onboard inclinometers, especially on steep angles (45*+)? Curious how they perform as I know that was a challenge with a lot of rangefinders in the past. I’m thinking of archery hunting scenarios on a cliff above the animal, maybe even a mountain rifle hunt...

What Fletching glue are you all using.

I’ve used a few different brands, I really like AAE Max Bond. Loctite gel is great, too. Whatever you use, throw it away and buy new more often than you think. Once you open it and expose it to air it starts to lose its adhesive properties. I have had issues with glue that was only open for a...

    300 WSM mono?

I’d have no concerns about a 165 TSX or 168 TTSX for goats. That’s actually probably a dang good setup. The 165 Accubond would also work well. I killed the one in my profile pic with the guide’s 30-06 and 180 A-Frames when I couldn’t make it happen with the bow.

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

When I did my Chugach goat hunt in 2022, I wore my Zamberlan 1104 Storm Pro. They are rated a 3 flex by GoHunt. In retrospect, I wish that I had worn my Salewa Vultur (5 flex). The 1104’s were great and still are a favorite of mine, but I definitely sacrificed some stability when traversing...
