Under $700 optic for a beginner to grow with
No experience with those scopes, but like others have said, get a variable in the 3-15, 4-16 x40-50mm and you'll be fine. I have a Leupold VX5 on one of my rifles that I like a lot. I have the CDS dial on it too and it works very well. can get a MOA scope and play with that too. Good luck and...- Trapper330

Vortex Viper 4-16x50 HSLR on Weatherby Vanguard. Scope Ring Suggestions?
Forgot what rings I used, maybe Tally, but it's a solid scope. My first attempt with MOA turret, but I like it. I got another gun and put a Leupold VX5 with CDS dial on it and like that even better. but the power range in both are very good for out west, 4-14 0r 4-16. I like the 50 and 44 mm...- Trapper330

Which Rifle?
I don't believe in "overkill" dead is dead. If you have a certain caliber and want to use it...I say go for it. Both calibers you mention are outstanding by the way.- Trapper330
