Can Colorado OTC Elk Last Forever?

The beauty of an OTC tag is that it can be bought literally over the counter at any point before or during the season. Meaning, lots of guys make last minute decisions and show up to hunt and buy a tag. If you limit it to first come, first serve, you're limiting tags to hunter who are planning...

Sitka Kelvin Aerolite Sleeping Bag ?

Price point is pretty good too. Haven't looked at weight/packability specs yet but it is a synthetic bag, not down.

Grits - the other breakfast cereal

It's a Cajun dish of thin cut beef or pork steaks smothered (slow-braised) in a rich brown gravy with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and served over *real* grits. Growing up in south Louisiana and loving to cook & eat has been the biggest barrier to my mountain fitness :p

Grits - the other breakfast cereal

Since real stone-ground grits need to cook for 35-45 min (which I will happily do occasionally for certain meals, Grits & Grillades, Shrimp & Grits, etc), I don't have any hate for instant grits for a quick 30 second breakfast haha. Just don't tell my granny I said that!

Grits - the other breakfast cereal

As a southerner, I can fully endorse a good bowl of grits. Grits is basically one of our major food groups. I've never taken them backpacking, but now I definitely plan to. How are yall cooking them? Instant grits are delicious but they typically leave alot of hard to clean residue on dishes...

    Preparing for an elk hunt

If you're training for a backpack hunt, you need a proper hunting backpack with a frame. They are built to carry alot of weight. Load it up with sand, water, concrete, whatever to simulate weight and hit the hills.

    Apex Hoody

The Apex is my go-to for western hunting and early whitetail hunting. I LOVE the merino blend and the reinforced shoulders/arms. It's killer. I take the elbow pads out, don't need them. I wear it over my baselayer on every single western hunt. Add a jacket/vest over if you need warmth/protection.
