I too swore off Salomon boots but came crawling back…haven’t found anything to replace that soft sole goodness. I’ve accepted just buying a new pair every year, usually find some good deals on eBay.
The media has made a scene out of a pretty obscure and low level case report..I still think it’s interesting and i agree with the authors about more surveillance and testing.
.
id say that’s a fair criticism. The clickbait kind of language in the abstract is weak..also unfortunately pretty common these days. I’d blame the journal editors for punishing it like that.
The bigger issue is the media, I don’t even know where to start there.
I don’t see anything in the case report that would claim to “prove” they ate CWD infected deer meat. Where in the text do you feel they used too strong of language? Maybe in the objective where they suggest “exposure”? They pretty clearly describe in the methods section what they mean by...
You’ve investigated and found that information to be false?
People can choose to be alarmed or not. I post my opinions, just like everyone else on this site. I don’t have strong emotions about CWD. I’ll watch all this play out over my lifetime and will try to avoid eating a CWD deer. I won’t...
Here’s how these things work. Ambitious medical student asks attending to help them get involved in a publication. Busy attending says here write up a case report on this rare/interesting/whatever case. I don’t have time to do it myself. Medical student writes it, attending etc edit it..and it’s...
Yup heart attack is probably what will end up doing most of us in! I wouldn’t mind if that happened while I was deer hunting in some beautiful country..if you had to choose
I think the news article sensationalizes but that’s to be expected.
The fact that two deer hunters in an (assuming) endemic CWD area died of CJD..when the incidence is 1-2 cases per million people..is very suspicious. With new diseases you have to start somewhere. if you understand prion...
It’s interesting for sure. CJD is pretty rare..probably not a coincidence that these two guys both died from it. I am not aware of any reason CWD CANT infect a human. Hasnt been proven yet, but it would be fairly difficult and logistically impossible to prove conclusively that it can’t infect...
Torque it all down night before the match. Zero at 100 with 10-20 shots before the match. Start with box MV, maybe toss the first stage getting your dope correct and fix it on your app before the next stage. Probably will have a much better day, but I understand your hesitation to change things...
Probably will be the btx..I need a couple more outings to be sure. I’m working on writing a comparison article and will go into depth on my thoughts..but BTX is to me slightly better optically, the big eyes are a more functional tool if they work for your eyes.
