    aluminum vs carbon trekking poles

    I've used to use some heavier duty aluminum black diamond poles but found they bent to easily which made them more prone to bends in the future. I'm now running the BD carbon cork and haven't had any issues. The only downside like Decker9 said is if you do bend them to the break point it's game...

    Stiff boots that walk ok on flat terrain?

    I'll second yeti14 recommendation of the scarpa ribelle hd. I just pickup up a pair and doing some initial testing doing some walks on asphalt, you can feel the extra bit of rocker built in. They definelty are still stiff mountaineering style boots but better than most I've tried on hard ground...
