    Whats on your Christmas list?

I might give myself the gift I keep threatening every year and actually go hiking for a week to get away from the horror of the shops.

    Sleeping pad slide? No more

I agree with above; dilute silicone with mineral spirits and apply with a syrette. Other than that, pure genius!

Are the higher end knifes that much better?

Replaceable blades? Damn, I guess I've been away from the scene for too long. Sounds gimmicky, but I'm open minded. I'm still impressed by how the convex grind on a Bark River changes the way the blade works. One of these days I'll get one in magna-cut and see what the fuss is about.

Do your boots change as the season goes on?

I have a pair of Danner Ft Lewis that I've worn pretty much every day for the last 5 years. They're on their second set of soles. Goretex liner. Here it gets down to about -10C at the overnight minimum and 40C daily max in summer (only lasts a week or two), so insulation isn't too big of an...

    Do You Wax/Treat Your Boots?

Adam88: In my experience, a good quality, expensive pair of boots makes more economic sense than cheap boots. My Danner's are now five years (daily wear) old and on their second pair of soles. Cost me about $350. I used to buy a $100 cheapo pair once a year. And more importantly, the Danners...

    Coffee brand/ flavour ?

When I was in the Scouts I remember one of the leaders "settling" the tea leaves by swinging the billy around, using a centrefuge effect. Does anyone do this to settle their cowboy coffee, or is that just insane?

Freezer Bag Cooking - Post your recipes here to share!

It may not be fancy, but I mix up some muesli with powdered milk in a ziplock bag for breakfasts. Stick the bag in my pot and add water. No clean up, just zip the bag closed when I'm done. Gonna have to give some of these recipes a try.
