    Idaho NR prices go up

Can't afford to hunt Idaho but you just started a thread on hunting Africa??? Doesn't compute... Outside of the major population centers, Idahoans are making MUCH less than folks from other areas. It's Idaho's "2nd paycheck" or the ideal of "my life is better than your vacation" that makes...

Bear safety on river elk hunt.

Pull coolers and dry boxes with food and set it up away from sleeping area in a pile and set up electric bear fence. Add string or wire with bells/ empty beer cans to give you warning. Make sure your coolers and boxes are igbc- certified or lockable as well. They'll probably go for your...

Preferred sidearm for hunting and or camping/hiking

G21 in 460 Rowland with night sights and Streamlight laser /light combo alternating warm loads of 250 XTP and hard cast. I'd feel fine with 10mm as well and may go that direction some day to get rid of the size/ sound/ flash of the compensator. Wouldn't mind something lighter for non griz...

    SG 5900, 6400, 6900

I have the 6900, my wife has the 5900. Both are great, just depends on how you like to pack. If I'm using the 6900 as a day bag for archery, I compress the side pockets into the bag and loose the lid. It ends up super compact. Haven't used either but the lack of symmetry in the 6400 and 7900...

Best Fixed Blade Broadheads for Elk

2nd the Helix. I would recommend the heavier steel ferrule in the 175-225 versions. They're much more durable.

Elk boots that are not boots....

Five Ten Guide Tennies work well when doing lots of rock scrambling. Just watch out for the bear grass!

    3,000+ person line

Never taken more than a few minutes in the past, have gotten delays on two this year. Considering getting concealed permit just to save the aggravation.

Archery hunt in full camo? Or solid color ok?

Don't wear it often because it's a pain in tight brush but have definitely had some experiences that make me think an ASAT leafy suit works. Can't fool their nose but haven't gotten away with moving right towards elk at ~60 yds with their eyes on you and they just look through you like they...

Would a side arm be necessary? Also what caliber?

G21 460 Rowland w/ light sure makes it more comfortable skinning in the dark. Not in CO but I rarely see anyone in ID during bow season not carrying. Guess I should take up bowling... Would like a something lighter when not in brown suit territory.

    300 norma velocity with heavies?

Curious to see what people are getting with 250 gn or similar bullets out of a 300 norma. Load data seems inconsistent. I've seen as slow as ~2800 and also see loaded ammo that claims 3000. Just got a Christensen MPR with 26" tube, thinking about ordering a bunch of the Hornady 250 A tips...

Need help on what truck to get.

Yep, want a more car like ride=Chevy I'd prefer Ford or Dodge for a truck that works. I'm a die hard diesel fan but they have so much mandatory crap on them nowadays if I wasn't going to delete everything I'd consider a gas motor.

    Fat Bike Rental

I understand getting a fatbike for non motorized areas but what does an Ebike gain? You'd be limited to motorized roads and trails in which case you may as well get a dirt bike that is much more capable.

Bino case with HPG Kit Bag-best option to carry 8x42s?

I have the HPG canteen size bottle holster on the front of the Recon. No flap but works just fine for 8x. I'll probably eventually get the bino pouch for the 12x if they'll fit but the bottle holster is working for now.

    Bugle Tube help!

On the compact end of the spectrum, the RM pack a bull is awesome. It's not the only tube I have but it lives in my pack all fall whether working, scouting, hiking with the family, etc.
