    Barrett Fieldcraft

I have the Forbes 24 (predecessor to the fieldcraft) in a 270. The Forbes has a Shaw barrel and I think the Fieldcraft has a Douglas barrel. It weighs 6.9 # with scope. Shoots 130,140 and 150 under an inch when I do my part. I've taken antelope, deer, and elk with this rifle and have had no issues.

RL16 and other Alliant powders Done?

I think Federal is the parent company to Alliant (RL) so simply ask Federal what is causing the RL shortage problem. I suspect that RL is being requested by Federal to manufacture powders for the Federal highest volume ammo. You have to remember that reloading components are a small fraction of...

Who has moved UP in caliber for elk

While I own several rifles 30/30, 6.5CM, 270, 30-06, and 300WM and have killed elk with all of them. My experience (31 elk to date) caliber does not mean dead elk. I am a hunter and take the responsibility of killing an elk seriously. What matters to me are a serious amount of practice (not on...

    Tikka vs Sako rifles

I can only comment on the SAKO 85 synthetic in a 30-06 which is the most accurate factory rifle I've ever owned. It weighs 7.11 fully loaded. The elk I have taken with it have gone down quickly.

    No more Fieldcrafts

My understanding was the military contract needed an all-hands-on deck, corporate push to make their contract commitment . The fieldcraft production needed to be temporary halted in order to make the contract commitment. I have no idea if the production vs costs BS are true. I highly doubt that...
