My opinion: you can 100% rattle blacktail anywhere, though its a pre rut and rut tactic and can take hours or minutes depending on the spot...its never a 100% success type deal but neither is bugling elk...I have friends who have called in bucks in late September in A zone rattling. Guys in...
in the past year I've run145 grain eclipse, Zwicky eskimo & no mercy, Vpa 3 blade, Simmons tree shark and tiger shark (or whatever the smaller glue on used to be that looks like the tree shark), Tuff head, Cutthroat 2 blade, Ace standard (great to sharpen), Magnus 1 (the old ones super wide)...
I try to shoot every day, realistically a miss a few days here and there. I also do alot of blank bail and form work so better my shot and increase accuracy, longevity and consistency. Ultimately I like having the confidence that I did everything I could to be ready when the moment to release an...
Welcome. Theres really almost no good new information on blacktail in regards to California. Theres a good podcast on a traditional archery podcast thats helpful, look up "the trad quest"...youll see it, its the most recent episode I think. Otherwise id check blacktail trophy tactics 2, thats a...
Just look for a good one on here or on archery talk. You'll need a 64 inch bow, might be able to shoot a 66...look for a good takedown...like a bob lee, stalker, Wengerd ect.
if your arrows are flying and your happy with how your bow is shooting then don't touch it...but I would ask the manufacturer, they normally know exactly where it should be.
Here are my 2020 California Blacktail. I scouted 20 or so days and I hunted 30 days, saw 6 deer the entire time, only 3 bucks...one just after shooting light opening night, the next 21 days later when I killed the smaller fork... first week of rifle, I hunted close to all or all of archery...
Sat in my tree stand for a week straight opening week of Californias A zone archery season, many days well over 90 degrees and up to 15 hours in the tree stand..mornings and nights filled with getting eaten alive by mosquitos. Finally a buck walks by, I watch him come in for close to an hour and...
Thanks, yeah I didn't feel like I read any really good reviews on there and I figured starting a new thread would get more attention. Im on the fence ready to buy SOLID but Id like a structured program with training exercises and im wondering is SOLID is that.
ive killed a pile in the first lite obsidian pants, sure they rent as durable but ive hunted 200 days in em+ and mine are still in good shape...only holes are from me and thorns and being a idiot. blood washes out pretty well too...Im going to run the sitka apex pants at some point down the...
Im seriously considering the course, although Im just feeling un easy about if its a good investment right now. I shoot with a 3 time nfaa world champ who was featured on masters of the Barebow (multiple dvd) and Ive got a good coach in him. But it seems like Tom is offering something next...
I just picked up a 58 50@28 pulling 28 inch whistler, Im shooting 400 spine with 250 grains up front cut to 29 and they are too stiff so I am going to run some 60-65 woodies with 125 up front, about 450 grains per shaft on the woodies so my total arrow weight is going to be about 575 + fletch...
Save up and buy used....go on trade talk or archery talk. Lots of really nice custom bows going for good prices. 700$ is a good mid way price for a used bow. Lots of cheap options that will fling an arrow but I think you'll upgrade again anyways...just my opinion.
Professional survival instructor since 2008, fishing guide since 2013. I spend 70+ days a year deep enough that I sleep in a shelter (70+ days in a tent basically...sometimes a debris hut). Based in California.
The cartel grows out in cali have dropped off big time, law enforcement flys and is really on it with google earth. Cartels tend to grow on land managed by the state that does not allow hunting, allows them to not worry about folks off trail since its "against the law" to go off trail in many of...
Ive shot Zwicky (every head they make), Magnus, grizzly and cutthroats over the years. They all work just the same... I started bowhunting with a self bow, self arrow tipped with points I knap. only a few years ago did I start shooting modern recurves. everything just has to be made more...
