Well damn, thats not good. I just bought one not too long ago and used it once. Worked great for Moose hunting here in Alaska and we got some wind and snow and it held up great. Reading this though makes me want to re-inforce the pole pocket with extra fabric or something.
Just picked up the famous Barneys Freighter pack, just the actual frame pack itself with meat shelf bag not included. My question is there are no cam straps to secure the quarters to the frame, how are you guys securing your meat? bungees? para cord? some type of after market cam straps? thank you
So last year I bought the Klymit 0 degree oversize bag because Im 6'2" and 260 lbs with wide shoulders and I hate being wrapped up tight in a mummy bag, need room to move. Its been pretty warm for me and comfy so far but what I hate is the feathers are falling out!. They seem to wiggle out of...
I literally just ordered this tent today although I ordered it ultimately as my one person tent. While not really tall Im 6'2" and 265 lbs with wide shoulders so most 1 person tents are just ridiculously cramped for me. My ONLY concern is the thin floor that Im hearing about, but like you said...
I still have not found a solution. I think it will just need to be crocs and rolling my pants up. I hate taking my boots off just for a quick crossing, but such is how the game is played I guess!!
Its actually funny you say that LOL, When I heard the Alders rustling and I knew something was about to walk in I reached up and poked the side button which is the MODE button and NOT the Record button damn it. SO yeah essentially I was able to capture NONE of the actual shot :(
Well what REALLY happened was that after the first shot my gun jammed so as a final death blow I had to roundhouse kick her in the side of the head, hence the skull deformity.......if we're being honest. :)
Thanks everyone for the nice words!. Yeah I feel blessed to have taken such a unique and powerful animal. To the guys commenting that they wish to take a Grizz someday or hope this year is "The year" I would just encourage everyone to not ever give up and to just keep working hard at it...
Yes, Grizz have beady little eyes lol. Heres a Grizz I just Shot Saturday night. Here is also her deformed skull, Im not sure what happened to her if it was a major injury when she was young or just born that way. Even with deformed skull she measured 23.5" skull
Im not sure what she weighed but for reference I am 6'2" and 265 Lbs. Im guessing she's at least twice my weight. Such impressive animals and by standards she's not even classified as a BIG Alaska Bear, I cannot imagine the 9-10 footers on Kodiak!
Last year I took a nice Black bear and had my sights set on a Interior Grizzly this year. Saturday evening it all came together for me and I harvested a nice big headed old Sow. She walked in like she owned the place. I took her at 30 YDS with my Browning X-Bolt .300 RUM with a 220 GR Hornady...
Palmer guy here. Welcome to the site, awesome place with real knowledgeable people. Ive hunted Unit 13 Area pretty well for Moose and Bou. Im going to try the Steese Hunt this year even though its a sh*t show from what I have heard. Gotta experience it though.
This thread made me laugh LOL. Try telling Cavemen, the most successful hunters that ever was to NOT eat meat before a hunt HAHA. As stated if an animal winds you then it winds you and thats your fault or luck just smacked you. There are so many smells coming from a human that we cannot control...
6'2" and currently 261 this morning. Although im not fat, Im not lean either, I just carry a decent amount of muscle mass and as of lately Ive gained some body fat. My background is heavy lifting and strongman training which comes in handy for picking up and carrying moose quarters, but my...
Just bought a SG Talus 6900.................I hunt Alaska, it can be wet, Pack cover or no? I know the SG's seem to be pretty water "resistant" so I wasnt sure if a cover was really needed. I wont be purposely hunting in a down pour, but crap happens and sometimes you get caught in a good one.
