    Kimber Montana or Barrett Fieldcraft

Can’t speak to the Barrett, but my Kimber 06 has served me well out to 418yds. Replaced the firing pin spring, torqued the action screws and polished the feed ramp. I have friends who discipline with extreme accuracy. Me not so much, an inch at 100 is plenty for my needs. For the sake of...

Alaska moose hunt / Lake landing...

2015? River float, dense along the river adjacent to higher elevation. Tactics didn’t change. Camp/call from the river. This bull came down the mountain overnight and right into camp from close to a mile. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alaska moose hunt / Lake landing...

The terrain in his concession involves higher elevation of Unit 16 which is less dense spruce, he also uses Argo's. However that could be different as of today. You can draw similarities but some tactics are inherently different based on where YOU are going. Principals remain the same, call and...

Alaska moose hunt / Lake landing...

This. Bulls can and do come in quietly, they're just as curious as to what they're coming in to (more dominant bull?). I shot the bull above from 30 yards, but like a ninja he appeared out of the wood line. Had absolutely no clue he was even there until I scanned the area. A bull can pinpoint...

Alaska moose hunt / Lake landing...

Almost all moose hunts of mine have been along the river, this year the meat pole was 30 feet from the tent. Unless your high elevation hunting or shooting long range purposely, I don't see a real gain in humping gear up high. The bull I shot this year, I called to ~25yards after calling from...

Alaska moose hunt / Lake landing...

Moose move around. Personally, I like to dig into an area with some elevation close by. Hills typically acts as a funnel, thus moving game into the area I plan to be in. I don’t go for high elevation, moose are heavy and that means brutal packing. This fall I picked a spot off the GPS just...

Need help picking a better digi-scoping set up. Thanks

Absolutely. I use an I6 for music. It will still connect to wifi for updates and downloads with no sim card installed. I was in the same spot several weeks back, not wanting to digiscope with a giant I7+ or deal with the heavy battery life. Have been happy using my Olympus TG4 w/ Novagrade...

Not Easy being a Father's Son

Kudos to you for sticking to it, Steve. Zach has come a long way since he first got to Alaska, you'd never even guess his trials in history. I'm reminded daily of how difficult being a father really is after the years I have also spent with a difficult son and hoping those difficulties lay in...

Truck help please...which 4WD system for the money thatb has Auto

I live in Alaska and commute 5 days a week, 92 miles a day 12 months a year. Have run newer trucks since 2006, Dodge and Chevy. Neither have been an issue and I spend 90% of my time in 2wd. A longer wheelbase will help tremendously in adverse conditions. Aside from that, good tires and winter...

Condensation...this floorless shelter experiment may be over

x2. Highly recommend a quality bivy when floor less in a moist environment. Just keep in mind it can trap condensation from the body, the footbox of my FF bag tends to dampen but I air it out whenever possible.

    Nikwax is garbage

Busting a lot of brush seems to deteriorate the NikWax much faster. I had previously used it on Kodiak with the exact same boots, it was "ok"...but nowhere near as good as the Kennetrek Wax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
