Hey all... I was interested in First Lite's Catalyst top and bottom as early season gear, and mainly for spring turkey. I wanted something to act as a light, durable and DWR outer layer with "some" insulating properties. IMO First Lite has not arrived yet with a durable outer layer, but the...
Can anyone comment on the fit of the Hardscrabble Pants? I'm getting mixed reviews about sizing. According to the sizing chart, a 39" waist = a size 40 pant. So if I'm a 40" waist, do I need a size 42 pants? The sizes all seem to correlate to 1" smaller waist measurements... 31" = size 32, 33" =...
Thanks man. It seems insulation may not even be necessary from what I'm reading. Posted the thread and then dug a bit deeper. This question has DEFINITELY been asked a hundred different ways :D
This question ties into a predicament I'm having in choosing between a MR Beartooth and a Exo 4800. I'm planning a hunt where spike camps and overnights are likely. So that means if I'm lucky enough to get a deer, I'll be packing a significant amount of gear AND meat. I had my heart set on a...
You mentioned possible cons to the Beartooth. There seems to be a lot of MR pack owners here, so let me ask a question about a perceived con to the Beartooth, keeping me from pulling the trigger. Why are there no dedicated load straps? A) Can't just haul with the frame, and B) (more importantly)...
I wanted to pull the trigger on the Beartooth, but it bugs me that it doesn't have dedicated load straps. You cant use the frame without the bag to haul meat? Also, with the bag on, you have to cinch down the contents of the bag to secure the meat shelf. Seems like a glaring fault.
I'm stuck between both packs as well. I actually almost pulled the trigger on the Beartooth until I found the 4800. What bugs me about the MR and what I'm hung up on is that it doesn't have load dedicated straps on the frame. It relies on cinching the entire contents of your bag to secure a...
