Wounding animals is hunter specific, not rifle specific, but no doubt from this thread it does sound like magnum hunters are more comfortable rolling the dice.
I just don’t see a point in using a sledge hammer to hang up picture when a standard carpenter’s hammer does it fine. I am not hunting railroad ties, just elk and deer.I even use an arrow sometimes.
I have been going back and forth cutting my .270 Fieldcraft, especially since I have a 6.5 prc 18” being built but I think I will. All accounts it seems to maintain velocity better than most.
I do the same. Most I evr paid was like $35 total with overages that had a couple week trip in the back country. Use it weekly for the most past here in CO and on scuba trips
