Just ordered a 62” jackal FXT with acs limbs off the website. It’s 44@28 which is lighter than I’m used to, it will be interesting to see how I shoot the lighter weight. I’m going to setup with a 20yard fixed crawl. Excited to get this bow in and get it tuned up.
Good discussion. In my experience BS tuning difficult, false readings can make you chase your tail as mentioned by previous posters. For me, it helps me get close, I make sure the arrow is flying a touch weak at 20 yds with bare shaft. I then shoot fletched arrows to confirm my arrow goes...
I am back to shooting the black widow PLX again. I got a new one, 64” 51#@28”, zebra wood and teardrop elm. This thing is something to look at. Shooting a 400 spine day six with 225 up front, 540 total grains. This will be my 3rd season with the PLX. Good luck y’all!
Dang that is a gorgeous stalker. Nice shootin y’all.
I worked up a new load myself for the year. Shooting a 29.5” day six 400 with 100 gr insert/collar combo and a 125 grain head. TAW 550 grains on the nose. Shooting a Wengerd chamois 62” bow, 51# @28”.
Really like this bow, finished deer...
You can tune your bow to have 0 contact. You can also shoot your bow with shelf contact. I prefer 0 contact with shelf. 3 rivers spine calculator always tells me I need a stiffer arrow than what actually tunes with 0 contact. Hope this helps.
I shoot TTT strings (Trevor Fielder). Best I’ve used, no reason to change. He’s fast at making them
, they are reasonably priced, and they are top notch quality.
I have 3 of them, and I’ve shot a dump truck load of critters with them in the past 2 years. They are a critical bow to shoot, just like any other longbow, there will be a small range impingement over your recurve. Mine shoots a 601 gr arrow in the 170’s.
Had excellent results with the...
100% my experiences as well. I shoot the bw cordovan, and have not had to break them in if I trim them properly. The padding runs out in them after about a month of shooting, then I replace them.
I shoot day six arrows. They are excellent, they tune like any other arrow, and no problem fletching with 4” feathers on a bitzeburger jig. Excellent arrows IMO, take a touch more work to make sure the outsert/insert spins true but overall 9.5/10.
I’m shooting a 630 grain arrow out of my 52# @28” PLX longbow. They shoot 170 FPS on the nose. They are heavy, and give me a 32 yard point on which I’m ok with.
my arrows are 400 spine day six, 31” long with 100 gr ins+collar, 200 grain day six or iron will wide. Shot a 200 lb boar with it...
