Anyone have the Sitka kelvin lite 3/4 pants that has made a modification to the bottom to add more elastic? I’m looking to either add elastic or make the bottom a little more narrow so there’s not such an enormous opening. Anyone have ideas?
Does anyone want to do a pack dump and share what you keep in your pack/ pockets/ belt holster, shoulder holster, bino holster, etc? What gear do you keep on you? Backpacking hunt/ day hunting out of basecamp/ drop camp? Going to Alaska bow hunting out of a drop camp and want to know what all...
Do you guys feel a Glock 29 with underwood or Buffalo bore is sufficient for black bears AND grizzlies while archery hunting? Or is a Glock 20 minimum?
Looking for suggestions on what everyone keeps on their person at all times while hunting (gear wise.. what’s in your pockets, on your belt, etc.. and in your day pack). I’m going moose bow hunting in the fall and curious what you guys do/ recommend? We will be on horses and there’s time the...
Is the hornady leverevolution 325gr 45-70 sufficient for grizzly bear defense in Alaska? I was able to get a lot of the 325gr leverevolution ammo at a great price, but not sure if it is worth taking in a backup gun while bow hunting moose. Anyone have experience with this ammo on big bears?
Home depot sells some pretty decent energizer head lamps for 250-325 lumens. Pick up a head lamp and a hand held flashlight. Head lamps are great because they leave your hands free, but are mostly only good for flooding the area you are working/ walking in. Hand held lights are great for seeing...
IMO, Diamond D Chest holster is a great option. A little pricey, but you are able to adjust it to sit just below and off to the side of your binos. A thigh holster just causes the gun to brush up against everything, scratches up the gun (if you care), gets snagged on branches, and can cause more...
Might be wise to carry one of the three you mentioned with some hard cast bullets from buffalo bore or underwood. I would opt for the 357, but even the 9 is better than nothing. You probably wont need it, but if you do need it, it could be the last time you ever need it
Does anyone carry a side arm while archery hunting moose in alaska? I will be with a guide, but not always will I be next to him as bow hunting can take me away from him if he is calling or raking. I will be hopefully super close to a large bull moose and there will be grizzlies and black bears...
Pretty good system. Mine is very similar, just with some kuiu pieces mixed in with the Sitka. I’m looking to add Sitka ws down hoody and the timberline pants this year.
Not sure if this is the right thread.. sorry if it’s not. I’m new here. Looking for suggestions on what everyone keeps on their person at all times while hunting (gear wise.. what’s in your pockets, on your belt, etc.. and not in the pack). I’m going moose bow hunting in the fall and curious...
We’re haded to southeast AK to bow hunt moose. Trying to start getting the gear and clothing all situated. Been shooting the bow out to 50 yards. Just need more space to work out farther distances.
