    Done with BaseMap.

Didn’t know gohunt had a mapping app. I’ll check it out too. Thanks!

    Done with BaseMap.

I’ve been dealing with so many bugs and problems the past 6 months. Private land boundaries aren’t showing up, sunrise and sunset are off by about 45 minutes, weather forecast is off by 10-15 degrees, etc. Yes I have the latest version and am all paid up. Yes my phone OS is up to date. Is...

    Savage axis mystery spring

I was tinkering with my savage axis trigger assembly. I put everything back together and see that this little spring was left behind. I cannot for the life of me figure out where it goes. The action, safety, bolt, and trigger work flawlessly when cycles and dry fired but obviously don’t want to...

I was planning on trying that toward the end of my trip. What’s your home town altitude if you don’t mind me asking. Sorry to highjack this thread….I’ll see myself out.

What gear are you looking to buy before this fall?

As I say whenever someone asks if I NEED all those guns: “It’s not a bill of needs”

Pad and Pillow for Side Sleepers

This is going to sound ridiculous but it’s been working amazing for me. Im 6’+, about 195, and broad shouldered. I’ve been using a neoar exterm inflated on the high side (helps the hips and shoulders) with one of my kids’ squishmallows as a pillow. I sometimes use one of those ultralight Nemo...

    What’s your favorite outdoors idiom/colloquialism?

I’ll start. Some I’ve heard here and some I’ve heard elsewhere: Kentucky windage: holding off target for wind Texas heart shot: a shot up the brown balloon knot Wisconsin tuxedo: full carhartt bibs and jacket Etc.

    Battery powered chainsaws.

Im in the dewalt tool ecosystem at home so I got one of their chainsaws. It’s excellent for yard work tasks. If you’re invested in a particular tool brand (and their batteries), then go with that. Tools alone don’t cost a whole lot.

    How's everybody make a living

DC. I’m a bass player in the National Symphony Orchestra. I’m going to record my elk bugle in the concert hall later this week. I’ll be sure to post it.

Anyone tried peanut oil in your chainsaw?

I’ve been running the exact same rig and oil for a few years. No issues. Just some minor leaking when I leave it full and unused for a while but it’s not intended to be a sealed system.

170 I’m not a WKR but I’ve gotten way more than $10 worth of good info from this site.

Heating options for food AND coffee

I’m starting to put together a menu for an upcoming solo elk hunt. I’ve got a few peak meals but also wanted to mix it up with things like instant mashed potatoes with chicken packets, oatmeal with dried milk, pre-cooked rice packets with smoked salmon, etc. I also will be drinking copious...

Let see your best camp photos!

Add me to the hammock team. I don’t use a quilt but I do lay on an insulated pad in the hammock. I made my own tarp and hammock too (ripstopbytheroll ftw). Plenty warm down to 20*. A bear walked right by me overnight in these pics.
