Check that you haven't lost the o ring that goes around the cap. It can come off (had it happen only once) and without it, the caps pop open very easily.
I've gone through a bunch of Silky saws and settled on the aluminum framed super accel with 2 blades; a large tooth and fine tooth. The large is great for the type of wood here in BC and the fine lives in my kill kit for bone. I like having the second blade just in case one breaks.

To bring things back into balance when using the 1.7ME, try the outdoorsmans extended plate. It's just an elongated dovetail that allows you to adjust the balance of the rig. Works well for me.
