accuracy troubleshooting help/or new barrel? (tikka, 7mm-08 twist rate, etc ?)

I love the Hunter models - but- I’ve found that pulling the wood stock and buying a cheap synthetic from eBay makes the Tikka rifles shoot better. 270 vs 7mm-08 vs 308 vs 30/06
Not inferior on accuracy; just inferior on taking Elk or other game as the match bullet is not designed for penetration or expansion. I tried a match bullet on a deer when I was young and didn’t know better. It hit the shoulder and exploded with no penetration. -

What bullet would you use in the 7-08? I’ve never used anything heavier than 150’s. The 162’s were too long for the magazine in my rifle. -

Bergara b14 VS CVA Cascade
The Weatherby is very hard to beat. They seem to do some calibers very, very well. .270 win. 25/06, Weatherby S2 Vanguard. Excellent! -

My bergara wilderness ridge was not so heavy. The bergara HMR is 9.25 lbs - plus add scope and ammo. Lots of people complaining about accuracy in the bergara wilderness ridge in .308 The 6.5 cm was very accurate. It definitely preferred 125-129 grain bullets over the 143 gr eld-x -

7mm-08 139 SST options
How did it end? Did you use the accubonds? W760 should be fine for the 139 sst. I’ve used it with great results. -

Heat is definitely a factor, but 21 shots spread out ‘over days’?? The barrel takes that long to cool? -

My first Tikka was a Hunter .270 win. Far More recoil than any .270 I ever shot. It would shake the weaver mounts loose before I could get it aligned. Every time I thought I would have it, the screws that hold the rings to the base would be loose. I’m glad I didn’t give up on tikka right there... -

How often is 1 MOA "really" 1 MOA?
I’d take the 1/2” load and run with it. When hunting the first shot is the Prime shot. You need two more shots you know your rifle and ammo , you will have the confidence to run em. -

Barrel too Hot?
I’ve had some pencil barrel’s that would be changing poi by the 3rd shot. A Ruger Hawkeye ultra lightweight, in 7mm-08, especially warm weather shooting 1-2-3 normal speed. By the 3rd round it was changing. A savage axis 25/06, would put the first two in the same hole. The 3rd would be off.. I... -

I’ve had reasonable success with Eld-x , 143 gr. 6.5cm But the rifle shoots 129, &125 grain Winchester better. I do want to try 145 eldx in .270 win. 154 eldx in 7mm-08 -

The funny thing is I’ve seen people shoot like this. In honesty though, I never liked ‘lite’ rifles when I was young. I typically carried a Wood stock , 26” barrel, Remington. Switching to ‘lite’ rifles after spinal surgeries and Degenerative disc disease, had its learning curve. I was not too... -

Out of 6 calibers of tikka rifles I’ve owned, 1 had enormous recoil for a .270 win.. did not shoot horribly. Not great. The .243 with 75 gr Vmax was incredibley accurate. One ragged hole. With 100 grain it opened up a little. - still well under an inch. The 25/06 Tikka Forest. Ok. Less than... -
