If you remember, I won the coin toss on the first stalk a few days ago, so it was still Cindy's turn. However, today the bucks came to their beds closer to the ridge I was on than where Cindy and Nick were. Cindy spotted the bucks just at sunrise, butI had better odds, so I stayed with them as long as I could until they climbed the ridge and headed to where Cindy could stalk them. As mentioned, we lost visual contact with the bucks but Cindy knew where they crossed the ridge. We picked up their tracks and followed them around the mountain to the cover they most likely bedded in. Cindy and I spent two hours moving through this glassing every nook and cranny hoping to spot one laying there. This is cattle country and the bucks live with them every day, so I've learned to pick through the cows as the bucks aren't that afraid of them. My gut feeling is the bucks were there (only cover within 500 yards and it was getting late when we lost sight of them) but too far into the cover to glass. You have to know where they are or you'll never get an arrow off as they get up.

More to come once I can get this other video edited. Also, I think Cindy has a gear summary coming, and the lightweight tent is awesome!

and Yes, that is toilet paper poking out the holes in my front pocket (Aron Snyder says I'm getting new camo:))

notice, too, the 1997 Bushnell Rangefinder. Killed all my big archery deer with them!

This video will give you a better idea of why we spent our days trying bed these bucks. They can be stalked in cover, but you have to know within about a 50 yard circle where they bedded or you can't get them. Here is the bedding area I likely lost the bucks in on day 4:

Sorry, I just ate a peanut butter sandwich before I made this, hence the teeth licking.

I really enjoyed following this hunt. I havent had a chance to check out the video's yet, but hope to tonight. I have one question ... just curious to know how many other hunters were seen in the area, if any?

Thanks and glad you enjoyed. We saw zero other hunters and is one reason we were able to keep track of these bucks every day. Idaho has taken the backseat to other states in the last decade and a lot of hunters just don't take Idaho seriously. While we are no Colorado or Nevada, the opportunity still exists to take a good buck. You'll see if I can get this HD video edited.

Rick, we'll keep this thread going as we have more video to post and who knows what the next 3 weeks will bring (Idaho archery season is 30 days long). Yes, I'm doing the Colorado muzz hunt next. Visit that thread and vote if you want that hunt on the Live forum.

THIS! I wanted to bring this up and point out something 'little' that I noticed, and that was how effective your words are directing Robby to where the deer are! Good communication with those you're hunting with and being able to describe locations like that is a lot harder to come by that most people think! Great job Cindy! I'm very impressed!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the hunt unfold! Thanks for taking the effort to make all this happen! What are the plans for the rest of the season? :)

That bedding area would be a nightmare to try and stalk through. Thick nasty little jungle, plus it sounds like you're literally walking on egg shells.
