thoughts on this bag? i'm wanting to pull the trigger HERE

would this be too much bag for first rifle in CO? back pack hunt. i like the weight and pad sleeve

BA is known for overestimating their bag temp ratings, so that should work for early rifle as it'll be more in line with being a 20 degree bag in reality.

Dang, that thing is 4lbs. Have you looked at Outdoor Vitals? If that is your budget there are still lighter options than going with a 4lb bag that might not be close to its temp rating.

The rei co-op magna 10 is on sale for $260 for regular length 1lb 14oz, and 275 for long at 2lb even.

i was really assuming it truly wasn't a 0 degree bag which is why i chose it. is 4 lbs heavy lol?

i've never heard of Outdoor Vitals. are they good?

this is a little out of reach at the moment

I would save up a little longer and expand your options. Light, warm, cheap. You can pick any two.

would buying this bag because of my budget be a mistake? or is the quality just not there? i can live with an extra pound or so this season

if there are more solid options in the $150 price range please point me in the right direction

Outdoor Vitals and Pariah get mentioned a lot in that range. Mountain Hardware lamina series, Kelty Sonic down, Marmot. For a quilt you can check out VIAM outdoors

I have the older Farwell I bought about 10 years ago for a horseback trip. It kept me warm with the insulated BA pad down to about 20 deg. I since bought a 0 deg Slick bag ( side zip) because it’s slightly lighter and compresses better, however the Farwell was definitely warmer than the Slick bag. Because of my I need a long wide so I’m used to the weight penalty. The outdoor vital looks pretty good but the long is only a couple of ounces lighter than the Farwell. If it’s closer to a true 0 deg rating than it might be worth it

Not slamming the Slick I really like a lot of things about it, just not even close to the temp rating in my experience

The outdoor vitals bag looks nice. My concern is being cramped in a mummy bag. Does anyone know of a good down regular bag type?
