155 eld-m vs 178 eld-x

I have a short barreled .308. I’ve always been a heavy for caliber guy. I shoot 200’s in my .300 win mag and 178’s in my .308.

With that, I’m thinking about going to the 155’s in .308. I’m in the camp you don’t need a certain amount of energy. I’m more in the camp of minimum expansion velocity. Which I think is 1600 fps for eldm.

What do you guys think?

I am loading 155 Lapua Scenar's in my 20" .308 and have had great accuracy and they worked well on game. I am loading with F210 and Varget for around 2875 if this helps. I too normally go mid to heavy but they have great BC for weight and are accurate.

I wouldn’t have an issue with it, but the 168eld has a better BC and I wouldn’t think the 155 could make up the difference in velocity.
