2025 Whitetail Meatpole

My two boys stacked them up this morning. They’ve hunted with me since they were able to walk and now seeing them being successful together makes the old man happy.

I shot what I thought was a good buck 10/30....my wife killed one 11/01 while 32 weeks pregnant.

On going joke is that people think she married me because I'm a good guy...but she pronounces guy as "guide"

Got my 2nd deer. I wanted some nice meet little 90lb doe. Tried 223 73 eldms out of a 16” AR suppressed. Planned to be a night predator gun. Deer ran 15 yards and bedded.she was about 40ish yards away. Had an exit with a lot of blood. Tried out my new dnt zulus 3-12. The old version was on sale for 350 at cameraland so I said why not. So I got a video. I am 2/2 on moving deer I need to learn to start doing the “meh” thing.

Not my deer but my 7yo was bound and determined to shoot a deer this fall. We were out of town most of the weekend during our youth weekend. Snuck in a late hunt Sunday and im glad we did. His first ever hunt as the shooter and he takes a doe and then 30 minutes later this buck steps out. Two great shots and he has a first hunt of a lifetime. Proud Dad moment for sure.

Edit: 73 elds may be overkill for whitetails...

Thats what its all about! Memories neither of you will ever forget!

After a couple years of near misses and getting busted several times, I finally got my first buck with a bow. Public land in IL. Man, bow hunting can be challenging, but it is so rewarding when it finally pays off. For some reason the shot actually looks further back than it really was, double lung, no guts punctured, and great blood trail to where I found him at about 100 yards. Very exciting, especially as I was getting a bit discouraged after not seeing anything all week. I try to always remind myself this, but it really does just take one time out and a couple minutes for your luck to change!

1000004582.jpg1000004581.jpgI've heard of a wall hanger buck, never a tree hanger. It was raining and I was amazed so a couple quick pics are all I took. They dont do the situation justice. This buck bound away after I arrowed him and got his antlers stuck 5 ft from the ground in a tree. Broke 1 tine, gave me a short tracking job. Ill take it.
