Ok load gurus I’m starting some load development for my 22-250 it is a Winchester model 70 long action with a Douglas air gauged 30” barrel in 1-14. I am looking for a suitable powder with the long barrel something I can charge up but potentially a slower burning powder? So more powder slower?? Or ??🤷‍♂️
Thinking a 40gr bullet or their abouts?
Any insight is much appreciated.

IMR or Hodgdon 4895 has worked well for me. If you plan to shoot the 40's with that longgg barrel you'll be launching them pretty damn fast so I'd recommend the Nosler Ballistic Tip 40's. Those Nosler BT's are a pretty tough little bullet and will have a higher chance of surviving the trip without going poof before they get to the target than most of the other 40's.

I've shot a lot of 52gr ELD-M's in 14tw 22-250's with either H414 or one of the 4895's and that combo always shot extremely well in 14tw barrels.
