I had a 100gr e-tip load coming out of a Tikka barrel at over 3400fps. It never went on a hunt before I sold the barrel and components.

Is making 25creed as simple as sizing down 6.5creed?

I already have .25-06 dies and am thinking about a fast twist 1:7 Shaen barrel mated to Tikka action. Need to dig up those threads on COAL management for the heavy/long .25-06 cartridges. Was plannig on a 6mm-06 due to better bullet choice and availability (shorter COAL as well), but if Hornady is re-investing in .25 caliber bullets, there may be a rapid renaissance in '23. This should take some pressure off the Berger 133 and 135 supply issues.

How fast are you pushing them?
Modest 2970 in a 20” bbl. Definitely 2+ grains under max so I’m thinking 3100 is pretty doable in the 20” bbl. The rifle was brand new right before the sheep hunt so I just found a decent node and ran it for the season. I may play with the load some more over the winter but it shoots really well where it’s at. Target posted was 5 shots and the rifle weighs 7lbs 2 ounces scoped.

Yes most if the reamers have a no turn neck for 6.5 brass. It's a simple neck down and shoot.

I can't find it now, but I thought I read a post about someone loading the High BC Berger's into a fast twist Tikka 25-06. They were worried there wasn't as much magazine space as they wanted. If someone is running a fast twist Tikka 25-06 with the 133/135 Berger, I would love to hear about it. I have a big nostalgia factor with the 25-06. My grandpa's favorite rifle was a 25-06, and it was the first rifle I ever shot. It kind of started this whole crazy obsession.

I used a 25/06 for PA deer hunting for years, actually just sold the gun. I used the 117 gamekings, at my typical hunting ranges (<80 yards) it was rare to have a bullet reach the opposite side of the rib cage. Death was nearly instant in many cases, none went further than 40 yards. The only pass-through was on a 110 yd shot that went high-shoulder > neck on a hard quartering deer.

I moved away from the 25/06 due to the combination of brass, twist rate, and until very recently a lack of heavy bullets. Happy to see the bullet situation improving, but I doubt I'll return to the 25s.
