.25 Cal (Quarter Bore) / Big Game Success - 25 Creed, 25-284, 25-06, 25 PRC, 25 SAUM

Quarter bore love. Here is the 25-06AI I just built to re-purpose a BAT Vampire action and XLR chassis.

Fire formed 50 pieces of brass. Shot a ladder with Berger 133EH and Retumbo. Loaded 60.3 grains to 63.4 using load data from Berger. MV ranged from 3047 on the low side to 3245 on the high. The more amazing thing is the 8 charges in the middle grouped at .625 MOA. The only oddball was the 63.4 load that shot down into the bigger group. I will now run some groups from and settle on my final load.View attachment 937277

Any ideas on barrel life for that thing?

Question to everybody!!

I can’t find the Berger 133… so is everyone shooting the Hybrid 135 for hunting application?
I’ve been using the 131 BJ and the Berger 135s (both target) for everything from pronghorn to bull elk on 9 downed big game animals. All one shot kills and good wound channels. Haven’t failed me yet. Two bulls have been DRT.

I’ve searched high and low on what’s the difference between the two, and I haven’t found a definitive answer. A lot of it seems like speculation. Some same jacket thickness. Others say a deeper hollow point. Most say “one’s a hunting bullet and one is a target bullet”…..well ok, but that doesn’t tell me the actual differences. Maybe a Berger rep or engineer can chime in.
