Good to see the HBC being put to work. Congrats!Cow elk taken at 200 yards with Hammer 107HBC in 18” 1:7 25CM.
Bullet passed between ribs on entry and exit and never hit bone, but still exhibited nose fragmentation. Cow took two steps on impact and tipped over. MV was 2970fps and impact velocity was ~2675fps.

That is a big bodied buck! What did he weigh in at?Two deer so far this year with my 25 SAUM and Berger 135 LRHTs. Wife’s doe at 271 yards, lungs were jello on that one. Maybe made it 10 yards before going down. Then my buck at 550 yards, impact velocity right around 2500. Photos are of the buck.
How are the Xs shooting compared to the Ms accuracy wise for you?Cow elk 128eldx impact at ~2500fps. High lung shot, she went down in 3-4 seconds. Nice long wound cavity, with an exit. A thumbs up for me, 1 deer and 1 elk with 128eldx looking good so far. View attachment 972882View attachment 972883View attachment 972884
They pound knot holes, but this barrel seems to shoot anything 128-131-133-134's very well. How are the Xs shooting compared to the Ms accuracy wise for you?
What cartridge and rifle specs if you don’t mind? They pound knot holes, but this barrel seems to shoot anything 128-131-133-134's very well.
319g7 worked well out to 900yrds on the revics.
25/6.5prc vesper, brux 7.5t 20", rokstok, dd lti, lapua brassWhat cartridge and rifle specs if you don’t mind?
I don’t know but Hornady did a pod comparing 22-6-25-65 creeds. They basically said inside of 600 the bc differences with the smaller ones were made up by speed compared with 6.5. The 25 they couched as an “all arounder” and best for balance of barrel life, ballistics etc so they pushed it as perfect match cartridge. Thats what stuck out to me anyways. Depending on bullet, 128 or 134 vs 140-147 in the 6.5, I’d just run them through a recoil calculator. Doubting there’s a ton of difference. Is there a discernible difference in the recoil impulse of the 25 Creedmoor and the 6.5 Creedmoor? The 25 Creedmoor is intriguing on paper, but I think it might be a bit of data masturbation that is irrelevant in the field.
Recoil ratings are a lie in most cases IMO because every gun will recoil differently depending on how it’s built. I tend to shoot heavier guns which tend to have less felt recoil than a mountain style rifle. Is there a discernible difference in the recoil impulse of the 25 Creedmoor and the 6.5 Creedmoor? Of course -- but the math is still helpful when comparing cartridges. My sub-8-pound T3x is a handful shooting heavies in 6.5mm Creedmoor.Recoil ratings are a lie in most cases IMO because every gun will recoil differently depending on how it’s built.
I’ve never done an apples to apples side by side comparison, but I think there is logic assuming that the heavy for caliber 0.257” bullets would recoil less than the heavy for caliber 6.5 bullets. I shoot the Berger 135gr in my 25CM and Berger 140gr in my 6.5CM. In that situation I can’t say I notice a difference in recoil, but I bet I could if I was shooting the Berger 153.5gr.Is there a discernible difference in the recoil impulse of the 25 Creedmoor and the 6.5 Creedmoor? Agreed. I just put together a CTR 308 for my dad and shooting 168s was a chore and no where close to pleasurable. I lend this to the cheap plastic stock they use.Of course -- but the math is still helpful when comparing cartridges. My sub-8-pound T3x is a handful shooting heavies in 6.5mm Creedmoor.
I was surprised to find the same with the Sauer 100 6.5 I came into.Of course -- but the math is still helpful when comparing cartridges. My sub-8-pound T3x is a handful shooting heavies in 6.5mm Creedmoor.
If only we had a cartridge one caliber smaller that shot almost exclusively bullets in that rangeThe bigger advantage for me with the 25 CM is the plethora of bullet options in the 80-110gr range
