280 AI on Elk at 600

280ai, Hornady Precision Hunter with the ELDx out of a Savage Ultralight topped with Burris XTR III 3-18 at 600 yards.

I have taught a friend long range and got his rifle dialed in. We have hunted elk in a secret location and killed 5 in the last four years between us. It’s big canyons and long shots. Lots of time to dry fire and make the call. We only take high confidence shots and walk away from others.

He has killed two with his 280ai: 430 and 600

One shot and the bull went down. Hide caught it on the other side.

I normally load 168 Berger, but didn’t have time and he had that factory ammo doped up too.

I really like hunting with the Berger and ELDm are good too.

I've seen alot of stuff killed with the 162 grain eldx. It's an extremely consistent bullet even at very high and very low velocity. In 4-5 years of using them on everything from little coast range blacktails to elk we were never disappointed.

Maybe I need to load for my 7 prc after all
