7mm PRC & N570

@TxLite Thanks for all of the data on your 18" 7PRC with N570. It was extremely helpful for me as a starting point. Just so happens my new build is very similar - Defiance TiX LA w/ 18" Preferred carbon 1:7 twist barrel. Running Cutting Edge 185gr Lazer copper bullets. COAL @ 3.53" which puts me 0.02" off the lands on the new barrel.

I just got back from clocking my first test loads, laddered from 65gr to 70gr with 1gr jumps. My speeds were almost exactly what you posted earlier in this thread. My 70gr loads has zero pressure signs. Unfortunately I only loaded up to 70gr (averaged 2,658fps), but I'm confident my next test ladder will get me to my target of 2,800fps with 73-74gr.

FWIW my QuickLoad estimates show about 200fps slower than the real world speeds across that intial ladder and QL estimates pressure at 58k psi with 75gr N570 at 2,668fps with 101.1% case fill at my COAL of 3.53" with the CEB 185 Lazer bullet.

I wouldn't be surprised if you start getting tight on capacity. With my 73gr load I use a tooth brush to settle the powder and prevent crunching.

I'll loadup the next ladder this week and come back here to update. I'm using ADG brass.

My kids may wonder where their toothbrush went for a few hours

So using 68.5g VVN565 im at 2915ish and decent groups... Peterson brass, 175 eldx. 24"weatherby mkv

I'd like more velocity but im confused why the n560 seems to show slightly more than n565 in some of the load data but other people have much sucess with the n570 but according to the littlecrow videos it seems like thats not the right powder??

I need to buy some powder but not sure which direction to go.

My final load for last season was 69.4gr N565 witth the 175 ELD-X at about 2885 out of a 22" barrel. I had headroom above that dose too.

Depends on the projectile and it's weight, but load data is specific to only that in which it has been tested.

Damn. I just got back from the range and chronoed 5 rounds of factory Hornady precision hunter 175 ELDX at 2917 FPS 5 shot average.

22” barrel with a suppressor installed.

I was 2861 with a different lot no. and no suppressor installed.

How do you do this exactly? Have been tapping the case with finger over the top to get the powder to drop. But want to try the toothbrush method.
I put a finger over the case mouth and touch the side of the case with the tooth brush while it’s vibrating. Sometimes I’ll also tilt the case to the side at a 45 degree angle while vibrating it and then rotate it back vertical.

I hope you don't hate me too much, but 66grs of H1000 behind a 184gr Berger Hybrid produces 3,000 fps out of my 7mmWSM. But I do confess it's a 26" Brux bbl I get it with those short bbls you want to add a suppresser and still be practical.

All good. The wsm is a great cartridge and I wish it had caught on better. I don’t necessarily chase the utmost velocity or I’d do a longer barrel as well. My main goal has been to maximize what I can get while maintaining the mobility and balance of the shorter, suppressed package. I’m pretty happy with 180’s doing 2860 in an 18”.

Here in Wild Nevada, obtaining a Big game tag is like winning the lottery. So I like shooting long range Steel silhouette.

Looking to see if anyone has any experience with this combo. Looking to add some speed over my H1000 load with 180 hybrids. I’ve done some looking around but haven’t seen a ton of people that are using this combo. Maybe there’s a reason?

Berger data shows it being nearly 100fps faster than H1000 but don’t want to burn up components if it’s not worth exploring.
I worked up some loads because I was curious. 72.5g N570 behind a berger 180 hybrid and was getting 3050 fps out of my SIG sawtooth. Speed was fantastic but had about a 2" group.

What length is that barrel? Although with 2” I’d be trying other powders, I know others have had better accuracy with 565 it seems

Appreciate this thread, it popped up on the Google when looking for load data.
I couldn't get 180 Hybrids and H1000 to be consistent so I gave up and went to N570 and 195's.

POI overlay of 70 and 70.5
70 and 70-5 overlay (Small).jpg

helped a guy with his scope and borrowed his garmin; 70.5gr
the low one was 2997
IMG_1718.JPG

will shoot 600 and 1,000 tomorrow, probably 70.2 or .3
pretty happy with the speed, I could feel it at 70.5

EDIT to add
loaded 70.2gr
shot 3 at 600 to dbl check velocity
went to 1,000, took 1 click out after the 1st shot, then shot the rest.
final, 2,990 fps with 195's
