What is the length of this Tikka barrel? Bought on eBay, seller listed it as being 22" long...

My X bolt is supposed to be a 20" and it measures 21". Not a Tikka but same deal.

The right way to measure is when the barrel is on the intended action. Then put a dowel or rod down the barrel and mark it. That will be your length.

I should add, the measurement is from the closed bolt face to the end of muzzle.

To rephrase my question - is there any circumstance in which this could be considered a 22" barrel?? I can't do a "proper" measurement with a rod down the barrel since it isn't mounted; but given that end to end its 24"+, and even 23"+ from the shoulder, there's no way this is 22"... right??

Breech face to muzzle is the standard way to measure a barrel for length. That is not a 22" barrel.

But all long barrels have short barrels in them waiting to be released.

Yeah no chance that could be considered a 22" barrel.

It's not 22". It might have 22" of rifling
^^this could be likely but I doubt dude selling measured the rifling, plus that's not the "proper" way.

It's definitely a 24.3" barrel. I have a super lite 6.5 and that's exactly what it is.

If it’s a factory take off (sure appears to be) why is this even a question? On both the seller and the buyers end. Know what you’re buying, know what you’re selling.

The barrel is 24.3 inches (24). I have a 22” Tikka barrel which tapes out at 22.25”. When you order a barrel for a Tikka and want to keep the same barrel contour, must measure end of muzzle to end of threads like you did. Most prefit makers have the Tikka profiles. The D-18 contour for the RoughTech and the Veil measure the same.

Because the seller listed this as a 22" barrel, and Tikka does make a 22" Superlite 6.5cm, so that's what I assumed I would be receiving. I'm admittedly not an expert on all things rifle-related, so this thread is just to confirm that I am measuring things correctly before I accuse the seller of making a mistake.

Thanks everyone for your input!
