Blacktail & duck success!!

What an amazing experience and something i will never forget. Went with Larson bay lodge for blacktail deer and ducks. All 6 of us filled our tags and took some great animals. Shot both deer with the 140grain absolute hammer out of my 280AI. The duck hunting was a blast. This is an old squaw drake and hen. Such beautiful animals. Cant wait to get them on my wall. Id highly recommend Larson bay lodge also. The people are great and the food was delicious.

Absolutely! Great problem to have! Getting the old squaw,harlequin,goldeneye and mcganzer all mounted to haha

I dove up in SE AK a couple years and I was harvesting sea urchins, we have to constantly crack them to make sure we are staying in good quality… those old squaws would always be all around eating the urchins I was cracking, it was not unusual to have 40-50 of them cruising around down there with me… beautiful birds.

I’m not a waterfowl guy, but I have always been interested in it, if I ever do get into it, a drake old squaw would be at the top of my bird bucket list… would make a beautiful mount

Are you mounting the drake and hen together?

Yes it was an amazing time. Yes. Getting a drake and hen and of all those ducks i stated but the mcganzer. Yes thenold squaw are my favorite also. Such a beautiful duck. Both drake and hen.

Ya that honestly the first time i ever duck-hunted and i asked the guide if we could eat them and he said. “No” lol. Said they didnt taste very good at all.

I've been to Larsen bay 4 times for deer/duck combos. I never saw old squaw while duck hunting. Great mixed bag for guys checking off bucket list birds. Those Barrows GE are also hard to come by in the lower 48.

Nice job! Old squaw is still on my list. I have eaten alot of sea ducks up here and have yet to find one that's not good. Scoters and harlies are great

Just smather with olive oil and hit them hard with GARLICSALT hot hot cast iron 45 seconds on each side and go to town, or not.

We eat all the ducks we kill, if we like them or not. Hot and fast and rare is best on divers and sea ducks.
