Bomb Proof set and forget scope for Tikka 6.5 creed

Old post but: was scanning the comments and wasn't seeing any feedback on the SFWA 3-15.. you guys seem to unanimously agree that 3-9 is the way to go for 6.5cm. I've never shot 6.5cm but thought with this caliber's capabilities, that a 3-15 might work better for long range work than a 3-9?

Im in the same boat as above. Have owned a few swfa 3-15's and a bunch of other brands with similar X range, and they rarely get over 10 in the field.

It comes down to what you consider "long range". If you plan to shoot smallish targets past 750 or so, then the extra X might be useful to you. If the maim purpose is hunting to 500-600, which is logical to conclude for someone seeking a "bomb proof set it and forget it" scope, then 6x or 3-9 is great.

And I've read that the hd glass on the 9 is clearer than the 15. Is the difference really significant at 9 to 10x?

Nope
The difference, however slight, would be with them both at max power the edge would go to the 3-9
The 3-9 has a better reticle though for my eyes.
With the 3-9 on 6x and a 3-15 on 7power I cannot tell the difference in glass quality well beyond legal shooting light
If you treat the 3-15 as say a 3-12 you’d be hard pressed to tell any difference

The 3-10 shins a great set and forget option, it’s not a lightweight scope but mine hasn’t had any issues for the past few seasons with fairly heavy use. Float hunts, boat hunts, aoudad hunting, snowmobile hunts. No problems.

The trijicon accupoint scopes are great too, actually, lots of the trijicon stuff is a solid choice.

ELDM 140 is a good place to start. If it shoots well, it's a great place to end!
