Wondering on sound differences between shooting a can with an oversized bore vs a caliber specific can?

Noticeably better suppression with a caliber specific can vs an oversized can?

What about say a 30 cal can with a 556 end cap?

The Stealth Project suppressors have caliber specific inserts at the muzzle end of the suppressor. I have used the .308, 6.5mm, and .22 cal inserts and they make a noticeable but not earth shattering difference. I suspect that having the caliber restriction start at the muzzle end of the suppressor adds to its effectiveness. Unknown Suppressors discovered during their product development research, that in a reflex style suppressor the bore size of the suppressor makes a significant difference.
