Get everyone just back from a backpack mule deer hunt here in California. Ended up taking this dude at 12,500 ft as he was bedded with seven other bucks! Anyone else having any luck?
Thanks boys it was a tough hunt and even harder stalk!! Slipping off boots and putting my wool socks on. We'll that sucked on top of the slate rock that's all it was!
Also the emr ii is a meat packing machine!!!! Amazing pack

Spotted them at first light watched them bed moved down and around the mountain back up to them. They moved beds to the top of mountain, at 12,500. Stalk took 2 1/2 hours wind switched twice lots of moving in on one spot the backing out and around and so on.
Here is a pic of the terrain they bedded down in. I was amazed. These big bucks live in harsh terrain. All slate rocks with patches of ankle high sage here and there. Pretty rugged country!
