I'm wanting a nice camera that will take good photos and also do video. Figure $1,000 budget.

Any suggestions?

Also will need editing software suggestions.

Going on vacation, want some nice photos for my office, and might as well shoot some videos for when I'm too old to do much.

Do you want a point-and-shoot camera or DSLR?

Most people use Lightroom for editing, and that's what I recommend.

I would contact the guys at Cameraland and see what they can get you for $1k.

They should have a bundle with a decent body and a couple of lenses to get you started.
