Is anyone at this point hearing anything or concerned they will pull the plug on the border opening for vaxxed US travelers before there is even an opening.

All of these businesses have mobilized and hunters are spending money on travel arrangements. At this point is this a legit possibility?!

I have been hearing a lot of talk that due to the delta there is a strong chance Canada will renig. How could this happen with the data of vaccinated people being statistically insignificant in transmission rates.

At some point you have just wing it. I am booked, my hunts are paid for, flights, hotels and work arrangements made…it is what it is at this point. If something changes then I will deal with it at that time.

I live right by the border. I don’t see it opening. I could be wrong, but with all the fear being pushed it’s likely to stayed closed, or if it does open and numbers go up be prepared for it to shut down again.

I just read, they are extending the closure from Aug. 9 until the 21st. then only if conditions remain constant. But there are mixed reports, so who knows what to trust.

Maybe we'll wait for you guys to open the border too. ;)

Playing this game as well. Booked a moose hunt for 2020 - no go. Rescheduled for same two weeks this year. Thought it was going to go. Two weeks ago got a call from guide saying large firing burning his direction and he hoped I got travel insurance because it didn't look good. Got a call last week - rain came - fire out and we are a go again. Now I'm not so confident on the border either. I owe him the other half of the money so I'm in the same boat Trial153 - I'm just going to pay up at this point and see how she goes. I doubt that border will be open come October either. I'm hoping at that point I will just file the travel insurance claim and be done with it.

Not a huge deal but what a pain in the butt having to wait it out and not be able to just cancel and plan a different hunt.

You guys aren't opening the border until after us(Cana-duh) BUT....Sounds like the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) union has voted to go on strike since the Liberal government that campaigned on building a better relationship with the public sector, has let them go 3 years without a contract. That might slow things down.

If I'm putting on my tinfoil hat, I would agree that they will probably keep it closed longer because of the covid numbers going up again. After all, all the Communist sh!thole countries keep the borders closed so their peasants can't leave to see what freedom is.

Are we at the point yet where a tinfoil hat is a sign of intelligence? Holy crap I miss the meme threads.

My brother is there now for work not vaxxed, had to "quarantine" for 10 days and be tested. He could be out and about but not enter businesses, even masked. Work related but, they are obviously letting people in regardless of vax status.

We've had quite a few foreigners in at my work since it began. All we had to do was provide a letter they could present to the border guards and they had to have a negative covid test within the previous 72 hours and they came in no problem. The only guy that didn't make it in didn't have a test prior to hitting the border. No quarantine required if it's for "essential" work.

How could this happen when the government promised you that all you had to do was get vaccinated and everything would go back to normal?

Simple.

They lied.

Exactly right, give these a$sholes one inch and they'll take a mile.
Trudeau's an absolute anus anyway; creep of a human.

I really feel for our Canadian brothers, although we're rapidly becoming the same socialist mess here in the U.S. Disgusting.

Technically Trudeau could do this on his own but based off of previous accounts you would think he would want support of the other premiers. I think that this point he would not get that.

They don't care about the Premiers unless they are from Ontario or Quebec.

Although there hasn't been an early election called yet, the liberals are running attack ads going after Erin O'Toole. He's the leader of the official opposition Conservatives. There's a line in the ad that says "O'Toole supports Jason Kenney AND Alberta."

Kenney is the Premier of Alberta but to openly say that supporting one of the Provinces is somehow bad shows how shady these guys are. It would be the same thing if the Democrats ran attack ads saying how crappy a place like Texas is.

I'm sorry I've turned this a bit political. I'm just so frustrated and disgusted with who is currently holding office in this country and what they are doing there.

I totally get it. The US has no better leadership. North America is a wreck
