I have the Savage Thread Works Beast Adapter which allows me to put most any holster for any gun directly behind my existing bino hanress.

I already have straps for my pack and my bino hanresss, I didn’t want another layer of straps under my bino harness to have take on and off. Additionally with a stand alone holster/rig, it seems like if you have to a whole ‘nother rig if you want to carry a different gun, which can get expensive.

With the Beast Adapter I can add or remove holsters for different guns and adjust the angle and depth I want the grip sticking out, Additionally, I can...

The beast adapter reduces a lot of the cons of a bino harness option.

I have switched over from a hip holster to a chest holster. In my opinion, hip holsters are for dead guys! I’ll take a little bit of the uncomfortableness to have my side arm readily available that I can quickly draw.

I feel like as long as you train with what you have you can’t go wrong with either.

I tried a couple of the gunfighter options for a chest rig. Looked like a slick set up, was not for me. A lot on the chest and horrible draw on its own, not even useable with a Bino harness for me. Running a Razco on my pack hip belt now. Perfect draw and don’t even know it’s there.

I just spent 30 days in AK with a chest holster, worn under my bino harness and it didnt bother me a bit. It was nice to keep my pistol on me when I didnt need my glass. For example, I packed out two moose and 2 caribou and wanted to ditch every ounce I didnt need. I definitely wanted my pistol as we had a grizzly . Even while packing heavy loads I wasnt bothered by pistol's chest rig strap.

Even while packing heavy loads I wasnt bothered by pistol's chest rig strap.

Diamond D makes the one I used. I was able to drop it low under my bino harness and it drew well and my packs waist belt would go under the holster.

Says a guy who has never walked through thick brush, waist high wet vegetation, snow covered bushes, etc...... it WILL snag on everything and you have no way to protect it!

But its probably at least comfy while sitting on a log, camp chair, or driving.

I love my Alaska gear chest holster for my Glock 20. It takes a beating and doesn’t move or lose my gun. Rain or shine it’s perfect.

I often run into heavy brush and water crossings so it is chest holster for me, the higher the better. Chest is my favorite and easiest draw point anyway. I can crawl, stumble, fall, scrabble over fences, and the pistol does not snag or poke me.

I carry a G17 in a Matchpoint USA chest holster. The flexible backer is comfortable but for some silly reason, the chest perimeter strap is elasticized. That requires 2 hands for a controlled draw. Usually not an issue, but you never know. Also, Matchpoint only offers right draw kydex. So my 2-handed draw needs be followed with a gun hand swap. That's okay, lefties are used to inconveniences like that.

Based on the post from HighUintas, I just ordered a left draw Wasatch chest holster in a cool pattern. Their strap system is all wide nylon, which I have yet to see in any other chest holster. I plan to Frankenstein the Wasatch straps and kydex onto the Matchpoint backer. It will be the best chest holster yet.
