Thinking about ditching the 8x42’s and backpack for some compact binoculars and a chest pack. This would be for shorter whitetail sits, scouting, turkey hunting, and hiking with a kid on my back. Curious to see if anyone else has gone this route. Would love to see some setups.

HPG Kit Bag chest pack was too hot on my chest. Went back to my trusty AGC bino harness and haven’t looked back.

You could put small 8x32's or smaller in a full size HPG Kit Bag. As has been mentioned they are warm and sweaty (as are all chest packs), but the wide footprint that makes them that way also makes them comfortable. If I was going with a chest pack rather than a bino harness I would look no further than HPG.

I own both an AGC bino harness and a HPG recon kit check pack - use the AGC for hunting and HPG for hiking and when I dont need binos.

I’ve got the HPG “original” kit bag, used it once or twice, makes me sweat horrible. My pistol was digging into me, (s&w shield). Spent a lot of time playing with the set up and was always uncomfortable. Had their tarahumara pack and had to carry a spare shirt it made me sweat that bad. I’m not an overweight fat ass either, well maybe a little 😁
I like the brand, just can’t use it.

I put this together for mostly hiking and white tails, and what ever else
Mystery Ranch Quick Draw harness. I think it’s discontinued?
Size small, I like that straps that take the place of the traditional neck strap can be unclipped from the pack and still be attached to the binos.

I hadn’t thought about the heat from a chest pack. I currently have 8x42’s in an fhf harness and now that I think about it, I do sweat up under the harness. Im looking at the HPG chest pack. I would pick up a pair of maven 8x30 and then find a way to attach my rangefinder pouch to the outside. I like the idea of having that small package ready to go.
