Cleaning Dirty Water Bag

What’s the best way to clean a “dirty water” bag? For backcountry hunting I run a MSR Hydromedary bag with an inline filter with quick releases. For late season I’d like to use it without the filter, but how do I make sure that it’s clean enough to use?

Water with a little bleach in it would probably be the easiest.

Also store the bag in the freezer between uses.

Clean as you would dishes. Warm water and dish soap. The key is to get it completely dry.

I prefer alcohol to clean it out and then stick a few golf balls in it until it's dry.

I haven't tried golf balls. I use tongs to hold the bag open for drying. To clean I use dish soap and hot water though if it was really nasty I would use a little bleach.

A bent wire hanger works to keep it open too
