Looks to be a pretty mild one, at least where I’ll be. How’s everyone feeling?

Not looking good for weather. I’m hunting 3rd season and hoping something changes.

Deer movement was slow but son managed to get a decent buck this am. Temps going lower this week so that may help.

My wife has a tag and we hunted the weekend. No good bucks but did some decent movement in the evenings. Hopefully the coming weekend will get better.

Got a buddy hunting elk and says he has seen plenty of deer but the elk hunting has been slow.

Our group was in Western CO for first 3 days of 2nd rifle. Lots of smaller bucks pushing does around in our area as others have mentioned. We did find and shoot one mature 4x4 that was rutting with 1 doe but it was in thicker cover at last light so maybe its just kicking in.

I’ll be in SW Colorado for 3rd season. What range of elevations do you guys put your focus on during that season? Or is that completely dependent on weather conditions?

Man I question myself every year and this year feels the same….i have seen ZERO deer or elk except the 3 bucks on the FS road on the drive in Friday. Searched from 8500-12000 ft. Need some luck to not go 0/5 at this point.

I found bucks in their typical summer patterns. Missed two 4x4s around 30" opening morning. Ended up killed a really good buck Tuesday on the same hill.

Varies dramatically year to year. As always, there are elk at many different elevations, but the less snow, the more variance. We’re locked under a high pressure ridge right now, but looking like a significant weather pattern change right around the opener. Unless we get multiple feet of snow, I’ll be probing elevations from mid 11,000s down to around 7,000 feet. Really not much public land below that elevation around me, but there are certainly lots of elk hanging out lower year around. More if we get snow so that’ll make it more of a transitional grounds hunt or possiblyan actual migration hunt if it’s a lot of snow. Otherwise, it’s seeking out holed up bachleors, which is probably the toughest scenario but opens up the most terrain variety.

I got a 2nd season tag for mule deer. What elevation are they at only seems like the smaller 2 points are at 11,000 in elevation

I found four bucks this am, a fork, 3x3 and two 4x4s hanging out in a small group. Not a doe in sight. I was at 7100’. I watched them for a few hours and then they left the area.

Found 2 carcasses at 11,000 elevation they wasted alot of meat sad to see. Been very cold today no sign or anything. Anyone else have any luck?
