Anyone have comment on the Jefferson lake area? Camping and ability to glass surrounding areas for goats?
How is the fishing?

Super excited. Looking forward to it. 4th rifle so I don't want to scout too soon given potential for snow and 3 prior seasons to push goats around. Love to hear from anyone who's hunted there.

Getting pretty white this last week, practice glassing up black marbles and black butter knives...

Buy chains, x4.

Never hunted goats there for. my own tag, just lived under Guyot for many years. Unreal history for the hiker to discover on those slopes.

AKA goat eyeballs All you've got that contrasts with the snow is marbles (eyes) and butterknives (horns) While you are at it you can glass up some snowshoe hares and ptarmigan. But they are a bit tougher with no butterknives. You are in for a treat if the weather stays sour.

The good thing about G16 is no matter how bad the weather gets, there is access to the unit from multiple sides. Sometimes the West side gets crushed, and the East is fine. The good thing is, unless we get a foot or two of snow, it will melt off where it needs to. You may have to walk up the roads as some of them get so iced up in the timber, you will die coming down on an ATV or Side by Side as they are pure waterfall type ice roads.

Don't forget about that North end!

Thank you! I was out scouting today and only saw 2 goats. CPW survey that goat #s went from 180 in 2023 to 70 in 2024. What would have caused 61% (110) of all the goats to die off?

Any tips on identifying a large nanny from an average billy? Feel free to PM me. Thank you.
