I'm heading to AK for the first time and want to capture the best photos possible with a compact camera. Looking for recommendations. I have been researching the Sony RX100 III as it appear to have the best photo quality of all cameras in the size. However, I don't want to come home with a $800 paper weight. Zip lock bags, otter box, or is this camera destine to die? Was looking at the TG but unsure if they are capable of "amazing" photos. Thanks in advance

If you want TG tough and RX100 image quality look at the Nikon AW1.

It is a great mix, but can be hard to find in stock.

having said that, I used the not-as-tough Nikon J1 on my AK trip, and it held up fine. The RX100 likely would too.

Did research on all the above cameras and ended up going with the RX100 II. It had the best picture quality, good zoom, raw format, and ultra compact. I found one on ebay with a Bestbuy warranty for the next 18 months so if it does go tits up. I'll get a free replacement. Thanks for the suggestions.
