Comparing some field o/u shotguns

I was in a wedding earlier this year and one of the groomsmen, who I know but not well, was talking about guns. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable and have plenty of guns. When he mentioned his 3 Perazzi's, the 687 diamond pigeon and the Kreighoff I listened thinking BS. We shot trap and skeet the day of the wedding. I laughed when he drug out 2 of the Perazzis (one looked like he'd drug it behind a truck from all the use) and absolutely demolished everything thrown, some upside down over his head. I was better at drinking beer afterwards then he was though. 😂😂

A touch off topic...but one of my new "friends" and annual hunting partners shot semi pro on college scholarship somewhere in the south. Shows me pics of his college room mates and team mates who have shot in the Olympics.....with piles of Argentina birds and lavish game rooms.

I am in Awe....my shotgunning is soooooo bad.

But I enjoy the education and reading

Ceasar Tempio is on my short list. Ive held every gun that is 12k or less and this one just shoulders the best for me and the sights line up when i drop my cheek on the comb. doesn't mean ill hit anything bc I probably wont. lol Rumor mill is that this will be my christmas present this year from my wife. I'm going with the 20/28 combo. but she better hurry up bc they only have one combo in stock....

It’s a different frame. But I think the 20 and 28 are on the same frame if I remember right
20 and some 28’s share a frame. There is also the “baby” frame that is smaller and some 28’s are built on that. To further confuse the issue, beretta made 20 and 28 ga barrels that would fit on a 12 ga frame, but I don’t believe they were sold as complete guns and last I looked were no longer available.

The 20/28 frame is around 6 to 6.5 lbs. the baby frame is closer to 5.5 and some consider them whippy

i cant imagine beating up a 5k gun. different tax bracket and all i guess.
I use a Franchi instinct SL its about a 1700 gun, has preformed flawlessly for me. after holding several brownings and berettas it was also the one that fit me the best right out the gate.

if i was spending 5k id probably be looking at the upland gun company and get something really custom to me. but i also would say get a 2k gun and spend the next 3k on a bad ass bird hunting trip

I have something like 15-16 double barrel shotguns from 100+ year old sxs to a number of different modern OOs. Pretty much the only one I use is an off the rack 686. I really need to start sending a few down the road. I just hate selling guns whatever $ I get from a single sale does not change my life in any meaningful way and to all at once sell enough to get me interested would be too traumatic.

My Instinct SL has been great too--no issues, light to carry, and I shoot it well enough.
