I’ve been looking for a cooler to bring fish home from the local ponds but haven’t been able to find exactly what I want so I’m looking for ideas.

What I am looking for:

  • Hard sided or soft with a removable plastic insert
  • I prefer non rotomold for weight and cost
  • Single handle for carry
  • Approximately 18” long (this has been the tough one)
The closest thing I’ve found is the Igloo 30qt Latitude but I’d prefer if it was a few inches wider and shorter for the volume.

A buddy has an old Coleman that looked perfect but I couldn’t find a new version.

I’ve found a couple soft sided that are close. Has anyone transported fish in a soft sided cooler? Did you end up with a funky fish smell you couldn’t get out after a while? That has been my worry.

For $25 if it stinks up throw it away. Here are a couple that check most of your boxes.

Live fish? Or eating dinner fish?
I transferred bass and perch from ranch stock tank to another in a plain igloo
whole eating fish , ice or frozen milk jug in a 25-35 igloo or Coleman

Eating dinner fish.

Amazon also has cooler liners that are dispoasable that work pretty well for coolers to control fish smell.
I’ll look into these. My wife loves the crockpot liners.

I found a Columbia PFG cooler that hits everything but price, if nothing else shows up I may suck it up and pay my money.
