I took these pics this morning just South of Ouray, CO. Are these desert big horns?

Yes,
I saw some around Montose last year. I found a map somewhere that showed the ranges in Colo. for bighorn vs. desert bighorn. Everything down that way is considered Desert.

Hard to tell from your photos, around Ouray you could see Rocky Mtn. Bighorns. In a lot of the canyons to the north up to Grand Junction there are a number of Desert bighorns

They are Rockies (S21).... deserts are much more to the southwest from the Montrose/Norwood area to the North around Grand Junction.

Well,
Not sure what range map I was looking at. If you look at the hunting units on the Colo. web site. S21 is supposed to be regular bighorns.

Okay, yes here in western Colorado we do have desert country and several herds of desert bighorn sheep. Four desert sheep hunting areas, S56, S62, S63, S64. Those photos I posted above are of sheep in one of these areas. I am not an expert of what the technical differences are, but seeing the different types I can tell. They seem to be slender, thinner longer face, and the horns seem to V out more. I am sure the sheep experts will speak up. All these photos are taken within 5 to 20 miles of my home.
