Im looking for a pack for the up coming season. EXO definitely has my interest. This pack will only be used for 2 hunts a base camp mule deer hunt in WY and another base camp Elk hunt. I have an opportunity to pick up a K2 3500 for a decent price. For the amount of use I will get out of this pack not interested in invention in a new K4. Is the K2 worth getting or should I look for a used K3.

Get it. I personally would keep the K2 belt. The belt was the only thing I disliked on the K3 and I wish I had kept my K2.

You can buy my 5500 k2 I have for sale right now with all the accessories for $425. A lot more room for only a few once penalty. Just sayin ;).

Thanks for all the recommendations. I really like the new K4 but I think the older K2 will do fine for what I need.

Thanks for the offer but 5500 is way more than I need. I got by fine last year with a 2300 bag

I have a K2 3500 and 2000. The 3500 is my go to pack for most things. I did just get a K3 belt for it and haven't used it yet but feels nice. But for fit and load carrying when needed, you can't go wrong. I was in the Exo store the other day and saw the K4. It was nice but at 70 yrs old I couldn't see the increased cost worth the use I would get as the K2 still performs great for me.

Thanks for the input. I am also 70 and feel the same. I do like the idea of picking up the 2000 to go with the 3500. I would definitely ge the use out of the system if I did that. Hopefully a 2000 bag is around to be had.

I love my K2 2000. It’s my work horse and has seen a lot of miles. No real complaints about the system.

The 2000 seems like the best day pack and would have been my first choice but I found a good deal on a 3500 so I figured I would give it a try and if iy turns out to big look for a 2000 bag. Last year I used a Kuiu Venture 2300 on my elk hunt and it seemed to right size but no meat hauling capability.

The 3500 is not too big for everyday use. it cinches down nice. I found the 2000 with a lid is OK but gets full fast with bulky items like jackets and such. I originally was going to get a 2000 but went in to Exo and walked out with the 3500. The 3500 will do everything the 2000 will do but not the other way. I actually only picked up the 2000 bag after I sold my KUIU Ultra 6000. Then I found another K2 frame and belt. Changing bags was a bit of a pain for short time use.

/\/\/\ Some good points here. However, I can do about 3 days out of my 2000. With a lid I’d get 4 easy. Gear is a big player in that with size and weight. Both bags are very nice and will do well.

If you find a good deal on a 3500, it’s a very streamlined bag that you will never wish was smaller, and there are a lot more of them out there. It’s a great day hunting bag even on minimalist trips, they compress down to nothing (if you can’t find a small bag)

I also have a med and large belt I believe from the k2 that I would just give you if you find the right pack with the wrong belt. Pretty sure I have both, don’t need either, and assume just pass it on if someone needs one

I've been running my K2 since they came out. I love the pack, no complaints about anything. I did upgrade to the K3 belt and like it better. I'll probably get a K4 5000 in a solid color for when I want a bigger bag, or use it as a carry on but I'll keep my K2 also.

Pack arrived at the house today and I am more than happy with the purchase. Never had an EXO in my hands so you never know. Pack is in like new condition with barely a mark on it. Now to put it to work!
