Factory stock Tikka

Just purchased new blued Tikka and sent it off for cerakote . While reinstalling barreled action back in factory noticed the barrel at the tip of stock is free floating with probably 1/8 inch clearance . Is this normal ? Ya I know make sure recoil lug is fitting into the receiver . Took it apart half a dozen times with same result . Anyone else have similar situation with new Tikka being free floated ?

My Tikkas were all free floated from the factory as far as I could tell.

The barrel at the end of the stock should be free-floated, but there is a shoulder an inch or so ahead of the receiver that contacts the barrel. Many, myself included, have removed that shoulder to make the barrel completely free-floated with good results.

Color the lug with a sharpie, assemble, pull it apart to make sure it fully seated if it’s not looking right.
