Greetings. Been a rokslide lurker for years. I have lived in MT my whole life and have been hunting since I was 12. I primarily archery hunt elk and rifle hunt mule deer with mixed opportunities for antelope. I’m always looking for ways to improve my craft and I hope I can learn a thing or 2 from the guys on this site.

I know it’s sarcasm but hey what the hell. I currently shoot a Mathews V3X with a 80lb draw and a 480grain arrow going 280 fps. It’s nasty. The bull I killed this year I miss judged on yardage and did the cardinal sin of archery elk hunting and shot him in the knuckle on the shoulder blade. Completely blew through it and buried in the opposite shoulder. Didn’t go 30.

What strings you got on ‘er? I have 485 grain arrow at 75 lbs was pushing 284 fps but now with my new strings, Catifish Bloodline, I’m at 292 fps and drawing 74 lbs. Mathews phase 4. This modern era of archery is something special isn’t it? The technology I’m heading out on a Bison hunt next week.
