How does this bedding job look? High Caliber Customs in Kalamazoo, MI

Sounds like it’s time to out the shop and send a link to this thread to the owner.

I'm not a gunsmith but even i know that looks like shit. Definitely get that rebedded. Glad you outed the shop. Maybe send the owner a link to this thread so he can see pics of what real bedding jobs look like...

This is my own armature work, good enough, but not good. I would expect better from a professional. Some of the earlier posts have pictures of nice bedding jobs.

This shop is less than 10min from my house. I appreciate the heads up, they won't be touching any of my stuff.

If anyone is still following, I sent those pictures to the owner of the shop..

He stands by his gunsmith’s work and says this is exactly what a proper bedding job should look like. he offered a 50% refund.
Please, for the protection of Rokslide members, let us know who the owner is, or the company name.

Guys don't build bad ass motors just to leave the hood closed...........The detail going on under the action is every bit as important as everything else. That is just plain ole sloppy don't give a S^%T work.

That looks like his first-attempt after watching some YouTube videos!
Not even. That's basically how I did my first years ago. Even though I didn't use enough release agent, mine still looked light-years better than that. That isn't a bedding job, not sure wtf it is.

Looked up their website. Shows some nice looking, detailed Cerakote work. Certainly not the kind of place you would expect to see something like the bedding job shown above to come from. Very.....interesting.

I'm hesitant to pass judgment on this alleged "gunsmith"
You're pics look like a botched home bedding job that was done with playdough after a bottle of whiskey . Kinda like getting plastic surgery in Mexico.

If that is what a bedding job is supposed to look like, I would hate to see what they deem a bad one is.

Very poor workmanship. The process is not that hard to do yourself I have done dozen of them myself.
Hope you get 100% of your money back. Good luck!

Take the money and run
This is how I do a Tikka

Another "how does this bedding look" question...

My Browning A Bolt II apparently came from the factory "glass bedded and free floated." I had it apart yesterday to install a trigger spring and found the bed job around the recoil lug. Does this look decent or should I redo it? The gun is currently far more accurate than me.

If the gun shoots well, I would not worry about it. The bedding material appears to truly be molded around the action and to surround the entire recoil lug to aid in consistent mating between action and stock.

Just keep an eye on it to see if it starts to chip. Buy keep an eye on it, I only mean look at it if you are pulling the action from the stock anyway, no need to pull the action just to check it.
