Hey guys, what are yours opinions about Huntin Fool? Those of you that are current members and have used their services? Thanks!

I am no longer impressed and will not renew my subscription, Drew a tag 2 years ago, tried to gain some insight thru the members help system, got nada, nothing. Moving my money to Go Hunt. Ymmv

It’s great to read quick then check all the units it mentions off the list for future hunts. They get crowded pretty quick.

I had them for 1 year, and that will be it. I could not believe the amount of phone calls i had to get from them trying to get more money out of me..raffles etc. and now that i have no renewed, they seem to call once a week to "remind" me im no longer a member and how i can come back. NO THANKS. they lost my business due to the constant annoyance trying to pry more money out of me when I already forked over 100 bucks for what i consider a mediocre hunting magazine at best.

Can a member call HF and get help applying for tags etc? Asking as I have heard something like HF charges a member 50 dollars per species and 10 every species after that per state for tag/license assistance.
If true does this mean u pay this extra fee and their staff takes care of everything or they won’t even talk to ya over the phone and help a guy fill out tags by themselves by phone call?

I've talked to the guys at epic a bunch of times about my application choices and I don't pay for thier application service. I've never used HF though.

I can't compare go hunt or Epic.

HF is a solid outfit with good intel. The one thing HF is missing is detailed draw odds. You can get those cheap from a couple other outfits.

What you will realize is these unit recommendations don't change much from yr to yr....so its a lot of the same stuff every year- with minor changes of course. Subscribe for a year to learn the ins and outs then decide whether you need it every year.

A family member is a HF member. I’m a new epic member, also gohunt member, so I feel covered even though the hf/epic is similar (given their origination) Not quite sure how I feel about epic seem like an alright crew you definitely don’t talk to Adam or Jason if you call, although I haven’t asked.
I like the idea of a consultant although not interested in the application service of each I can handle that for now. I also understand the mindset of avoiding units they recommend. Just have to be smart about it I guess. To each their own on how they spend hard earned cash.

You say that but last time I called I did get Jason on the line (didn't ask for him, just got him) and we had an awesome hour long conversation about the AZ draw structure. So you never know who you're going to get! ;)

I talked to Adam multiple times when I've called and he as always had great feed back for my questions

No, never been a member of HF, Eastman's, Epic, or any of the other one's. As mentioned, they take a perfectly good unit and ruin it. I also question their accuracy of information. I can find everything I need on other internet and game and fish websites.

I think you're talking about their tag application service. You can pay them (as well as many other services, like the one Epic offers as well) to actually apply your for all the hunts. You tell them what you're interested in and they do all the paperwork and pick the units for you. That does cost you money.

If you simply want to call HF up and chat with one of their advisors about a state/species/units/etc, they'll get one phone and talk with you and it doesn't cost you anything.

I've been a member of HF for years. Used to read each mag cover to cover but rarely read many articles now other than the editorials. Do read the state write ups to make sure I'm not missing anything new.

For me, there has been significant value after drawing tags and using the past member draw lists they provide on helping plan for my hunt. The 3 or 4 big out of state tags I've drawn so far I've always been able to find a couple guys from that list that have been VERY helpful lining out prospective camping spots, terrain insight, gear thoughts, and right down to sharing coordinates at times on wallows and other key spots.

Thanks for the info guys appreciate it. Blackdog reference my question about paying $50 per species, your response makes sense!

Was a member for a couple of years... I typically try to avoid the tag game now and didn't get any value from it. On the other hand, their pictures and magazine articles were pretty good. Good idea, but not for me anymore.
